Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering

MNE Student Organizations & Creative Inquiry Teams

Students apply their knowledge and skills through student organizations and creative inquiry teams. The real-world experience students receive gives them the leadership, teamwork and technical skills that are sought after by employers. There are several organizations that are directly related to the mechanical and nuclear engineering department.

See a full list of the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering Student Organizations (including Honorary Societies, Creative Inquiry Teams, Engineering Leadership, Engineering Ambassadors, Engineering Student Council, and Steel Ring).

AIAA Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Team
The UAS Team uses unmanned aerial vehicles to solve complex missions.

American Nuclear Society (ANS)
The K-State student section of the American Nuclear Society. ANS contributes toward the development of nuclear science through monthly meetings, research, and spreading nuclear awareness.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
The K-State Student Chapter of ASME. ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
The K-State Chapter of SAE is dedicated to the education of students interested in the automotive or aerospace industry.

SAE Aero Team
The Aero team designs and builds a remote-controlled model aircraft to fly with a maximum payload for competition.

SAE Baja Team - Wildcat Offroad
The Baja team designs, builds, and tests a prototype of an off-road recreational vehicle and races it in national competitions.

SAE Formula Team - Powercat Motorsports
The Formula Race team designs, manufactures, tests, races, and presents a fully functional, open wheel, open cockpit racecar.

Women of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering (WoMNE)
WoMNE is a social club that promotes the retention of females in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering and provides students an opportunity to support and network with each other.

Wildcat Rocketry
Wildcat Rocketry is a high-power rocketry team dedicated to advancing students' skills through the design and construction of complex mechanical and electrical components.

Wildcat Wind Power Team
Wildcat Wind Power is a competition design team that competes bi-annually at the Collegiate Wind Competition hosted by the United States Department of Energy. This competition coincides with the American Wind Energy Association's annual conference.

MNE Student Advisory Board (SAB)
The MNE SAB is a group of diverse and highly motivated student engineers that serve as the bridge between the students and the departmental faculty. The MNE SAB represents the student body for major departmental decisions, promotes social events within the MNE, and encourages the MNE Department's betterment through improvements in the faculty, social experiences, and facilities.
